Even Warriors get weary...

Today it was difficult to be the person my parents raised me to be. I had to call on their ancestral energy to guide me in doing the simplest and subtlest of things like saying Hello to Hypocrites and smiling politely at people who have committed acts of wrongdoing against you. All of us being human, people do what they feel they must, but there is something really dirty about using your authority and the power of your "African American Click in Academia" to remove people fro...m their job because you and those who control you, disagree with their politics.

All of this while watching 'Selma'. Watching this movie and the portrayal of the determination, belief, and sacrifice of people from the stock that raised me in the midst of people who benefitted from that sacrifice who now make it their business to destroy other Black people whom they disagree with made me sick to my stomach, but those five dollar movie tickets was the only way I could afford to take me and my daughter and get popcorn and a drink while being on unemployment.

One day I will write about this kind of evil in a way that teaches Black people how we can support each other, even when we don't agree politically. As for this moment, I know and understand that if white supremacy was a D---, they would know what it tasted like. So, I will watch them as they tongue kiss and lick the ass of white supremacy while saying "hello" to me with smiles on their faces--- when I know what you have done to block my success and impede my progress in this place.

It would behoove you to go ASK YO MAMA how she doing before you open your mouth to speak to me again. Unless my daddy and mama surround me once more allowing me to keep our dignity and uphold our family name, you will get the reaction you are soliciting, but it will be in the way you least expect it. --- Jolivette Anderson 'the poet warrior'

Now that I have gotten that out of my system, I will post an more intellectual response soon so stay tuned...
